This campaign is about making getting new, bigger and better participatory budgeting across Britain.

But what is participatory budgeting? There is a growing experience across England, Wales and Scotland that demonstrates that it works to trust citizens to make decisions on how local budgets are allocated. It is also worth noting that we are not talking about “consultation”, rather a a direct say. And if you do have any worries have look at some common concerns. For some amazing expertise talk to the Participatory Budgeting Unit. And this “Localism in Action” (pdf) guide has plenty of helpful information.

We are working with community, resident and tenant groups to help you win:
(1) Any kind of participatory budgeting in my area
(2) making sure it is repeated again
(3) Participatory budgeting across the whole authority area
(4) 1% of the budget is decided using participatory budgeting
